I have always been fascinated by how our bodies function and the biochemistry behind its seemingly magical operations. My interest grew more when I experienced chronic and severe back pain 15 years ago. I approached different doctors who provided me with medications to ease my agonizing pain. However, the medications only served to lessen my symptoms, leaving the root cause of my issue unaddressed. Nothing seemed to work substantially until I came across functional medicine. I appreciated its individualized approach to treatment and its comprehensive view of human health as a whole. As functional medicine taught me, there are many factors beyond biology that are involved in achieving true health. My search for a solution led me to study nutrition in an academic setting. I pursued and received my master’s degree in human nutrition.
